About Todd

Todd lived his life in service to others.

At the age of 17, Todd enlisted in the U.S. Army as part of a delayed enlistment program. He served as an Infantry Soldier assigned to Charlie Company 1/16 based out of the First Infantry Division "Big Red One" Fort Riley Kansas. During his time in the Army, Todd achieved the rank of E-4 specialist, served as an Infantry Team Leader, Bradley Fighting Vehicle Gunner, and certified Combat Lifesaver. He was deployed to Saudi Arabia during the Persian Gulf War and was honorably discharged after a three-year enlistment.

After his discharge, Todd used the GI Bill benefits he earned through his military service to attend college, where he earned a degree in criminal justice.

Upon graduation from college, Todd accepted a position with the Lakewood Police Department and spent the next twenty years serving his community as a Lakewood Police Agent, before eventually retiring from that position.

Upon his retirement from the Lakewood Police Department, Todd accepted a position as a Deputy Court Marshal, also with the City of Lakewood.  He served as a Deputy Court Marshal for three and half years.

Beyond his career accomplishments, Todd was a husband, father, son, brother, uncle, friend, and coach. He was married to his college sweetheart for 22 years and together they had two sons, who were his pride and joy. When he was not working, you could find Todd coaching his sons, attending their sporting events, running marathons, playing hockey, camping, and spending time with friends and family.

In 2024, shortly after his 50th birthday, Todd was diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer, likely caused by the elements he was exposed to while he was stationed in Saudi Arabia. Todd spent the next year fighting the greatest battle of his life as he struggled against the cancer and the terrible side effects of multiple chemotherapy regimens. When asked what people could do to support him, Todd's request was that people support other veterans and law enforcement officers in their times of need...and the inspiration for the Todd Clifford Legacy Foundation was born.
